History of DIET,Boudh

DIET Boudh is the only Elementary Teachers Training Institution of the district run by Government of Odisha and academic support provided by Directorate of TE and SCERT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. The Institution has been established in the year 1973 named as Government Secondary Training School, Boudh. In course of time the institution has been up-graded to District Resource Centre, Boudh in the year 2005 which came into force in the year 2010. Again, the institution up-graded from District Resource Centre, Boudh to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Boudh with effect from 1st November 2014. It was previously situated in the heart of Boudh town near Rajbati/Buddha Park which is about five hundred meters away from Boudh bus stand. In 2017 DIET Boudh was shifted from Rajbati to Landibandh, Boudh which is about 11 KM way from Boudh town. This move was part of the efforts to improve the infrastructure and facilities for teacher training in the district. The new location aimed to provide a better environment for the professional development of teachers and enhance educational outcomes in the region. The institution is preparing the talented youth to become successful teachers who will be the real nation builders.

To empower the prospective as well as in-service elementary school teachers by instilling indispensable knowledge, skill, attitude, behaviour and value in them to be the catalysts of a just, harmonious and progressive society.

  • To innovate and evolve ways and means that befits the current trends in elementary school education.
  • To facilitate and enable student-teachers to flourish by helping them develop their knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • To capacitate the student-teachers to adapt and thrive in increasingly diverse and dynamic world.
  • To prepare school teachers who are familiar with ICT mediation and integration in teaching learning process.
  • To inspire the school teachers to ensure their professional development by becoming lifelong learners.
  • To make the school teachers imbibe the professional ethics, morale, ideals etc. In line with the rich cultural heritage of Indian society.
  • To provide need-based academic support to the in-service elementary teachers working in the elementary schools of Boudh district.
  • To undertake research, materials development, training and extension activities for the holistic development of elementary school education.
  • To ensure the implementation and monitoring of educational programmes laid down by the Government of Odisha and SCERT.
